DEVELOPMENT

 

Located near Belitsa in the Rila Mountain, Lenishta is a small hydro power plant with installed capacity of 500 kW.​Development began in late 2011 and commercial operation started in 2015.​ The Powerplant is designed and built with modern equipment all around and full process automation.​The development process included close cooperation with local authorities and joint efforts secured a significant increase in the quality of life for the local people.

JOB CREATION

In an area with high unemployment, SHPP Lenishta works together with the authorities to provide working places for local residents from various purpose groups.

ENVIRONMENT

 

The reconstruction of the 4 km water canal allowed for the irrigation of formerly dry farming land plots and local land owners have been able to increase  production and be active on the regional produce market.The local team carries out regular activities to help preserve the nature and beauty of this mountainous region. The Lenishta team works in cooperation with the Municipality annually to clean up the river bed and riverbanks.
